Environment protection

Development of eco-friendly business is a priority of AB “Geonafta”:

• we invest in environment protection and eco-friendly operation of the oil-fields;
• we invest into the use of drilling technologies that have no adverse effects on the environment;
• we contribute to the reduction of the amount of gases causing greenhouse effect: the gases separating from oil are used for production of electric power and heating in the field-oils, and we are looking for other opportunities to use those gases.

According to scientific calculations, oil production makes as little as 0.3 percent of the impact on the climate change in Lithuania. The monitoring of the state of the environmental components – surface and ground water, ambient air and soil – has been started and carried out since 2000. The long-term results recorded in annual reports show that the activity (oil production) performed in oil production bores and oil-fields, as well as their sanitary safety zones have no substantial impact on the components of the natural environment.
